Space Needle Shootout Schedule Notes
WALOA evaluated over 40 officials at the Space Needle Shootout and worked with them at halftime and post-game to discuss mechanics, judgment and other items to better prepare for the 2010 season. It was a very cold, but successful weekend.
Look for further evalutations during the 2010 season. Even the best can get better!
New Officials Meeting - Good Turnout!
WALOA offered a 90 minute session for lacrosse official candidates on Dec 1st, discussing the benefits of becoming a lacrosse official. We also covered one training topic, "Personal Fouls" as an example of how WALOA trains its members. There were about 60 candidates in attendance and we hope to see many of you on the field in 2010. Thanks to Coach Ian O'Hearn and MIHS for making this meeting possible.
If you have any questions from the meeting, please contact Chris Long.

WALOA End of Year Celebration Held
WALOA held a year end party for its members at the Waterfront Activities Center at the University of Washington. A good time was had by all; our award winners included:
David Reichgott—Lifetime Service Award.
Dave has been with WALOA since its inception and has given many hours back to the game as an official, clinician and mentor.
Rob Quello—WALOA Rookie of the Year
Rob had a very good first year, transitioning from football to lacrosse. We hope to see him move up the ranks further in 2010.
Steve Wisman—WALOA Coach of the Year Award
Coach Wisman exemplified outstanding sportsmanship in 2010 and encourages many of his players to become officials.
Erik Smith—WALOA Meritorious Service Award
The founder of WALOA has worked very hard the last 10 years to recruit, retain and assign officials.
WALOA achieves 96% game coverage for BYLW in 2009
In 2009, WALOA had officials at 575 of 598 boy's youth lacrosse games for a total of 96% game coverage. There were 503 games with 2 officials (84%) and 72 games with one official (12%). Nice work to all officials that covered these games—we can drive these numbers up further in 2010!
